Your local Conservatives exist to strengthen your quality of life, both in social and economic terms. We fight for justice and our ultimate aim is a united community which is self-sufficient, happy and progressive. We do not believe in excessive governmental intervention, nor laws or taxes which prohibit our rights to self-determination (within logical reason).
We do however believe in the strength and importance of family, of deregulated business, of healthcare that is delivered on a local level, of policing that is comprehensive, of a society that places social justice and respect at the top of its agenda. We firmly believe in free speech, the encouragement of creativity and enterprise, and the promotion of charitable causes, whether in terms of social housing or other local initiatives to give to those who need it most. Furthermore, we believe in a foreign policy that favours international development over unnecessary conflict.
If Mid Dorset and North Poole can send a Conservative MP to Westminster, our area will be blessed by more change and improvement, the kind that has been initiated by the Conservative-led councils both at county and district level. If this goes hand in hand with the election of a Conservative national government headed by David Cameron, then we shall see all the more successes.
Nick King was selected as the Conservative parliamentary candidate in November 2006 after leading a successful career in business, which saw him ranked as one of the most renowned corporate relocation experts in the country. He is a local councillor, a member of the Dorset Police Authority, a Governor of Poole Hospital and a noted charity campaigner. Nick currently lives in Wimborne Minster and has called Dorset his home for years.

NICK KING ABSEILS OFF THE POOLE WATER TOWER IN AID OF CANCER RESEARCH UK
On Saturday morning, Nick continued his longstanding support for the Broadstone branch of Cancer Research UK by being sponsored to abseil off the Water Tower near Tower Park in Poole. After successfully completing the challenge, Nick has so far raised £1,000 in sponsorship and hopes to continue his support for Cancer Research UK in the near future.
Nick writes, "The battle against cancer is devastating for all those affected by it, including the patients' friends and family. We can and should do more not just to raise awareness, but to raise money which will fund life-saving research and treatment. Since 1997, our cancer survival rates have become some of the worst in Europe - and what has Labour done to reverse this trend?"
"It is vital that the Government treats cancer patients as people and not as mismanaged targets. To help this, every individual can actually contribute more than they realise - even small events can generate substantial amounts of sponsorship, and if you undertake several events a year, and ask your friends to do the same, soon your donations will really change people's lives for the better."
"Cancer should not be a death sentence; it's time the Government realised that and re-examined the ways in which it certifies new drugs that have already undergone rigourous testing. Specialised treatment is vital and waiting lists must be cut down, not by creating artificial targets, but by training new doctors and nurses, a process that I would fund by cutting back on the sheer volume of bureaucracy and red tape that lies at the heart of the NHS."
"It is our National Health Service, not the Government's. It is time that the Government hands back control of the NHS to us, the people, and we can then ask for a board of health professionals to bring their own expertise to its day-to-day management."
